Applications.

ACT recognizes industrial waste water challenges and the growing shortage of water. We are focused on developing eco-technologies which serve both the industrial and the natural worlds, by combining industrial efficiency with ecological restoration.
ACT's portfolio of technologies are designed to be employed individually or together on a customized basis to treat specific process water or oilfield waste streams. We offer assessment for your challenge, feasibility analysis, and process testing if required. We then present the solution to you with all details including adaptation equipment you may need along with costs. In some cases we will license the use of our patented and proprietary technology directly.

ACT has a standard confidentiality agreement for those who are interested in more details .

Feel free to Email us for more info or to discuss a pilot project at your facility. Please include a clear background of your operations and your objectives.

Tailings Free Oil Extraction

With 20 year old, well tested US research and recent local innovations, ACT is introducing an enhanced bitumen extraction method that does not produce tailings waste. This method is low sodium and manages the clay fraction of the oil sands very well, allowing for greater clay removal at less cost.

The ACT Method removes up to 99% of the bitumen from the sand/clay solids, does not produce an emulsified waste stream and the produced water can be recycled. ACT has done numerous small scale testing of this process over several years. We are now prepared to scale up to a pilot project of this promising and cleaner extraction method.

This process also has been tested with good results for the cleaning of produced sand from the Eastern Alberta heavy oil operations. Minor process modifications are needed for this application. Our strategy includes the use of your process waste heat to reduce costs and CO2 emissions. The ACT method does not produce tailings waste, only a small amount of sludge waste.

Oilfield Waste Sludge and Slop Treatment

The ACT Method recovers more oil than typical systems currently found in industrial facilities. ACT uses an effective and proven technology developed years ago with a previous company owned by ACT founders. The basis of this process is a chemical reaction with iron sulfide in tank slop and sludge. Iron sulfide is a well know problem which accumulates in oil field pipelines, equipment and storage tanks. It creates problem emulsions which results in costly waste. The ACT treatment is simple and effectively recovers oil from tank slop and thick sludge and recovers demulsified water for easier handling. The ACT method also removes BTEX and other hydrocarbons with process adjustments.

Mine Tailings Removal of Clay with Nano-Particles

Clay is recognized as a key problem component in many industrial waste tailing ponds. A worldwide search by ACT along with adaptation to our local technical issues has led to our solution. This nano-technology solution is physics-based and contrasts to the chemistry-based methods attempted in the past for removal of clay impurities. This method is new for Alberta and ACT is looking forward to its introduction and testing.

Wastewater/Produced Water Treatment

Seeking a large reduction in water use at your facility? ACT technology can “treat” or “improve” your produced water with new and effective science.Almost all industrial processes today can achieve water recycling. We can reduce or eliminate a wide range of problem substances such as fine solids, clays, BTEX and napthenic acid. We design treatment methods on a customized basis to treat specific process water issues. The ACT Method is also proving itself to be very effective at removing stubborn solids from highly viscous fluids. Our technology can also be used to "polish" waste water streams or act as a final stage in producing potable water.
